NSW State Titles 2019

Pawsitive Steps towards Mental Health Walk and Wellbeing Expo is hosted by Community Migrant Resource Centre. Their aim is to raise awareness about Mental Health in the Hills. The Agility Dog Club of NSW was kindly ask to come and do two demos. Thanks to all the club members who came, help set up and do two demos.

2019 saw the first NSW State Titles (formally known as the Festival of Agility). It is the biggest agility event on the NSW agility calendar. Run by the Dogs NSW Agility Committee, it hosts the finals of the Agility and Jumping Dog of the Year, the Festival Club Challenge as well as running every type of agility course currently available under the ANKC. 

 

Agility Dog Club once again helped out and ran ring 3. We like to thank all our members who volunteered their time to make sure our ring ran smoothly.

The Festival Club Challenge:

The Festival Club Challenge is held at lunch time each day. This year 2 clubs entered; Hawkesbury Dog Agility Club, and Agility Dog Club of NSW. Each team consist of 5 dogs, one at each height. The team who is most consistent after running both an agility and jumping course (least amount of faults and disqualifications) wins.

Agility Club of NSW came 1ST for the 4rd year in a row! 

Dog of the Year:

Through the year, dogs compete in Regional Qualifying Heats (RQH) at various trials throughout the state. Points are given to successfully placements. The competitor who obtains the highest aggregate score in 6 out of the 12 Agility RQH’s will be awarded The Balder Trophy. The Geronimo Trophy, is given to the Jumping equivalent.

 

Congratulations to all of our members who placed in the top 40 for both Agility and Jumping, especially Anthony Adam and Ralph (4th in Agility and top 600 dog overall), Sarah Kirkwood and Seeker (6th in Agility and 7th in Jumping) and Luciana Callagham and Paris (8th in Agility). 

The Agility Dog of the Year and Jumping Dog of the Year takes place each morning, where the Top 40 dogs from the RQH are invited to participate in the finals.

Anthony Adam and Ralph also won the ‘Max Shield’ which is awarded to the top 600 dog in the agility final (second year in a row!).

Channel 10- The Living Room

Back in December 2018 Amanda Keller and some of our amazing members got together to film for the Channel 10 tv show The Living Room. It was a great day showing off our amazing agility dogs and teaching Amanda's dog some basic agility tricks.

The Agility Dog Club of NSW was kindly asked to attend and put on a demo for the Sydney CDI- International Dressage half time performance. Our dogs amazed the audience with the speed and agility. 

Thank you to all of our members who attended, some traveling back from the trial in Shoalhaven that very day!

2018 ADC Christmas Party

6th December 2018

Our last training night of the year saw our annual Christmas Party and Presentation Night. The night was filled with laugher, food and Christmas cheer. 

Huge thanks to our committee who organised the event. Special thanks to Warren Millard for running the 24 weaver challenge, Liz Yuill for running the tunnellers challenge, Anthony Adam for running the 'Dog Speed Challenge', Robyn Jones for running the agility relay race, Dot Drescik who ran the dog swap challenge, Russel Clarke for being Santa and Sassy Treats who provided our puppies with a special Christmas treat!

Baptist Care Demo

24th November 2018

BaptistCare is one of the largest aged care and social support services in NSW and the ACT.

On the 24th of November, they held a Family Fun Fair at Macquarie Park. ADC was kindly asked along to do an agility demo and allow some of the residence to mingle with our beautiful dogs. Huge thanks to the following people who came down to help out with the demo:

Hills Relay for Life Agility Demo

The Relay For Life is a fun and moving overnight experience that raises vital funds for Cancer Council's research, prevention and support services. Agility Nationals 2018- Victoria

11th - 15th April 2018

The Agility Nationals happens every 2 years with each state taking turns to host it. This year it was Victoria's turn to host the event. 5 days of trialling saw 6539 entries over 105 classes. A large number of ADC members went down to brave the cold and compete against some of Australia's best! 

The trial hosts 3 heats for Agility and Jumping with the finals being held on the last day of the event. 

Unfortunately the weekend brought wild weather and the heats for the Opens were cancelled. So the finals were opened to everyone.
